Interim Management as choise of employment
Societal, economic and technology developments, such as
the need for increased flexibility by both employers and workers, the greater use
of advanced information and communications technology (ICT) and the greater importance
of particular business activities and occupations are resulting in the
emergence of new forms of employment. There are nine broad new forms of
employment. These may be new models of employment relationship between employee
and employer or client and worker, some times, the forms of employment may be
differntiated by whether they involved employees or self employed workers. Stretegic
employee sharing, job sharing, casual work, Mobile work, portfolio work and
platform work are the propular mathods (Wild , 2012) .
Interim Mnagement
Interim management is a form which a company hires a
higly specialised expert for a temperory duration to fullfill a specific work
such as solving a specific mangement problem or technicle challenge or to assist
in finacially dificult times. The interim manager can become a employee of the
receiving company and work as a contractor or third party such as work agency
can employ the interim manager. This model is considerd as flexible option with out any
long commitmnet. Interim manger tend to be in their 40s or 50s since their
specific tasks require a high level of skills, expertise and experience,
particularly in general or crisis management (Euro Found, 2018) .
In general, an interim management contract carries a
salary premium compared with employed managers (Inkson , et al., 2001) , high level of
qualification and expwetise of interim manager enhance knowledge amoung core
workers of the company.
JKOA Private limited, which had a difficulty to find a
well experience head of sales in its business content. They made a dicision to
promote internally and hire formar retired head of sales as a interim manager
to train and support newly appointed manager with a six month contract.
HR leaders has several new form of empaloyment methods
to choose according to their company requirement. Having a clear cut undastang
about all of these employement will help them to make the right choice.

ReplyDeleteInterim management is good in the cooperate world if the management like to accept it, but in case of Sri Lankan cricket board, most of the time interim management unsuccessful because of the wrong chose of an expert due to political influence.
